W/T/F-NB Wednesdays

Join the BBW Racing’s team for a spirited, inclusive spring training ride for W/T/F-NB riders through the hills of North Baltimore City and Ruxton, every Wednesday.

Where: Baltimore Bicycle Works, 1813 Falls Rd.

When: 5:30 pm roll-out on Wednesdays after Daylight Saving Weekend; moving to 6 pm April-September. 2023’s first W/T/F ride will be March 23rd.

What: 24 miles of road riding through pretty and hilly Baltimore County. 1700' of climbing, 5-10% grade hills.

Pace: Approximately 13-15mph most weeks, with re-grouping points after bigger hills.  The FIRST week of every month will be no-drop, with a slightly slower pace or longer breaks if needed.  We strive to be inclusive and not leave anyone behind, so if you're hesitant about the pace or the hills, come to the no-drop ride or contact our ride leader with any questions! Woman: a person who identifies as a woman

Trans: transgender, genderqueer, gender non-conforming, non-binary, gender fluid, and/or transitioning

Femme: a gender identity in which a women of any gender embodies a feminine appearance, expression, or identity

Non-Binary: a gender identity that doesn't sit within 'man' or 'woman'

 


Bumpy Belt Loop (Thursdays)

Bumpy Belt Loop (BBL) is a ~30mi road training route that passes through Baltimore County, hosted by Baltimore Bicycle Works Racing (BBWR). An opportunity to hit some of the toughest hills in the area, this is a great opportunity to put the hurt on those quads! We will strive to offer 2 different pace groups to accommodate for different speed and ability levels. Each ride will start with a brief overview of cycling etiquette. Rollout is 6:00PM every Thursday, pending weather conditions. BBWR teammates will receive a reminder a day before and, in the event cancellation occurs, advance notice will be sent out via email.

Where: Baltimore Bicycle Works, 1813 Falls Rd.

When: Wheels down at 6pm

What: 28 miles of road riding through pretty and hilly Baltimore City. 2048' of climbing, 5-10% grade hills.

Pace: A Group 17-18mph, B Group 15-16mph

Required: helmet; front and rear lights during shorter daylight hours. 

Recommended: road bike or cross bike with slick tires, clipless pedals, water, and a small snack!

Joe’s Bike Shop/BBWR Saturday Ride

BBWR has teamed up with Joe’s Bike Shop for their Saturday morning shop ride. This ride will have two pace groups (A group: 17-18mph, B group: 15 mph) that start from Joe’s Bike Shop in Mt. Washington with a midway regrouping point at Veloccino for some caffeine and snack refueling.

Where: Joe’s Bike Shop, 5813 Falls Rd

When: A group 7:30am, B group 7:35am

What: 36 miles of Baltimore County road riding

Pace: A Group 17-18mph, B Group 15 mph

Required: helmet; front and rear lights during shorter daylight hours.  Recommended: road bike or cross bike with slick tires, clipless pedals, water, and a small snack!

Note: If you drive to the ride, please park at Mt Washington Mill (Whole Foods lot) across the street from the shop. Riders should know the route, and be self-sufficient (flat kit, etc.)


Monday Recovery Ride

The Monday Recovery ride is a chill no-drop ride meant to help team members recover from a long weekend of racing and introduce new folks to the team. The route changes from week-to-week, but it is usually ~20 miles with (relatively) minimal elevation. If you're interested in the team but are unsure of your skill-level, this is the perfect ride for you!

Where: Baltimore Bicycle Works, 1813 Falls rd.

When: Every monday at 6PM

What: ~20 miles or less of easy spinning around Baltimore

Pace: >13-14mph; this is a strictly NO DROP ride

Required: Helmet, water, front and rear lights

Recommended: A road/gravel/cross bike with slick tires, cash (for snowball stops)
